I have turned registration for this site off. What I was seeing was dozens of registrations a day, all of which used throw-away email addresses, and none of which were used to leave comments. I conclude that essentially all of these registrations are script-kiddies trying to exploit an old WP vulnerability, and they are just a nuisance.
If you wish to just follow my site, there are two good ways to do that, 1) sign up for my newsletter, and 2) use the RSS feed.
If you wish to register so that you can leave a comment, please contact me using the contact form. Be sure to include your top 3 choices for a user name, and the reason that you would like a subscriber account to DFWPreppers.com. It may take up to a week to get your account, assuming that your IP and domain pass my abuse checks.

Yesterday evening, just before I was ready to cook my dinner, our power went out. Unexpectedly, of course. I mean, when does your power ever go out that you are expecting it to happen? I called the power company and went through an amazingly difficult series of screens and prompts. Fortunately there was still daylight; else, I am not sure whether I could have seen all the numbers I had to punch in to get the message across. I do have a flashlight, but from experience, finding the emergency numbers and figuring out the last seven digits of my ESID are hard enough without having to hold a flashlight under my chin!

What IS it with me and food? Oh, I know….I’m a foodie – I guess I’d just as well come clean.
When I first started this blog, I envisioned all sorts of topics concerning preparedness (and I promise, I swear I’ll diversify….soon!) But honestly, when it comes right down to it, “what are we going to eat?” is one of the first questions that comes to mind when thinking about survival….after all, no food….no survival, right?
