I have turned registration for this site off. What I was seeing was dozens of registrations a day, all of which used throw-away email addresses, and none of which were used to leave comments. I conclude that essentially all of these registrations are script-kiddies trying to exploit an old WP vulnerability, and they are just a nuisance.
If you wish to just follow my site, there are two good ways to do that, 1) sign up for my newsletter, and 2) use the RSS feed.
If you wish to register so that you can leave a comment, please contact me using the contact form. Be sure to include your top 3 choices for a user name, and the reason that you would like a subscriber account to DFWPreppers.com. It may take up to a week to get your account, assuming that your IP and domain pass my abuse checks.

If you are overweight, have diabetes, or come down with heart disease or stroke, that is bad enough during “normal” times when you have reasonably good access to medical care. If you are in a WROL or TEOTWAWKI situation, then all of your other prepping efforts amount to nothing.
Along that line, I got an article proposal from a freelance writer last week offering to do an article for the blog. I do occasionally have guest articles on DFWPreppers, so I invited her to submit one. It was reasonably well-written, and had some good tips. But one of her tips almost caused me to gag Read more on Staying Healthy as a Prepper…

I first learned about Chris Downs in an e-book titled “Leap Into Your New Life” which covers some of the health benefits of raising your own food in a sustainable manner. Chris’ story tells about how he had come to the conclusion that he was about to die while waiting for a heart transplant, and even got his affairs in order before he discovered a better way to live and eat.
Chris generates his own electricity, gets his water from a well on his property, raises food animals (although he is mostly vegetarian, his wife is not), and the only internet access he has is via a satellite system. He is far enough from “civilization” that getting electricity and land-line phone service is prohibitively expensive Continue reading
On April 4th and 5th (Friday 11am – 7pm & Saturday 9am – 7pm) at the Mesquite Convention Center, there will be a Self-Reliance Expo featuring products and services related to prepping. One of the corporate sponsors of Self Reliance Expo is Minute Man Rx, an Idaho-based manufacturer of Trauma and First Aid kits, along with a comprehensive line of state-of-the-art products for First Responders. Have you ever noticed how, whenever a big storm is predicted, people start rushing to stores to clean them out of every food item and supply they have on the shelves? In one sense, it’s probably good that they are trying to anticipate the emergency, despite being last-minute about it. It sure beats those people who don’t bother to prepare at all, then complain when emergency services are overwhelmed by requests for assistance.
But why panic in the first place? Why not have a stash of necessary items always ready for such an emergency? Even if there isn’t a storm approaching, it’s nice to know that you don’t have to rush out to the store every time you run out of toilet paper. Keeping some extra around the house is always a good idea!

The news is full these days of warnings from the Federal Drug Administration about the dangers of stockpiling medicines by purchasing drugs from online pharmacies. Apparently many pharmacies that say they are located in Canada (which is often considered to be a “safe” and less expensive place to purchase drugs) may not be there at all! Although the focus of the FDA article is on prescription drugs, it’s reasonable for American preppers to also want to stockpile over-the-counter drugs as well. First, let’s take a look at the article I’m talking about. If you haven’t seen it, you can find it here: Read more on Stockpiling Medicines? Careful Where You Buy Them!…
